Custom Textile & Leather Specification Program (COM / COL)
Richardson Seating welcomes Customer’s Own Material (COM) and Customer’s Own Leather (COL) specifications. Because we operate a fully integrated, vertical 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Chicago, Illinois, our in-house upholstery shop seamlessly handles custom textile orders from all major contract fabric brands, including Maharam, Momentum, Architex, and Ultrafabrics.
COM & COL Pricing Structure
To simplify your project estimation and quoting process, we utilize a straightforward tier system:
• COM Orders: Most COM fabric projects are priced using our standard Grade 3 vinyl pricing matrix, plus the cost of your supplied material.
• COL Orders: Due to the unique handling, pattern yields, and cutting requirements of genuine leather hides, all COL projects are individually custom-quoted by our engineering team to ensure the best value and structural integrity.

Project Estimation & Yardage Guidelines
To ensure accurate production timelines and material yields, please note the following contract manufacturing parameters:
• Standard Yields: Yardage requirements listed on individual product pages are based on 54-inch wide, non-directional fabrics.
• Pattern Matching & Directional Fabrics: For fabrics with large repeats, geometric patterns, or directional weaves, additional yardage may be required. Please contact our engineering department with your fabric specifications for a precise calculation.
• Railroading: Please specify if your fabric requires railroading or a standard up-the-roll application upon project submission.

All upholstery operations are performed to strict commercial hospitality and institutional standards.
• CAL TB 117-2013: All incoming COM/COL materials must comply with California Technical Bulletin 117-2013 standards unless otherwise specified by project architecture.
• Moisture Barriers & Special Treatments: In-house integration of specialized barrier materials is available for high-traffic healthcare, casino, and heavy commercial applications.
